What is CBD?
CBD (cannabidiol) is a natural chemical that is found in the Cannabis sativa plant. Did you know that there are two different types of this plant? Those are marijuana and hemp. Both of these plants contain two main natural chemicals: THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD ( cannabidiol). The difference between these two chemicals is that THC is found to have some psychoactive features, whereas CBD has no such features.
In simple words, CBD won’t get you high. But it could help you with a wide variety of health problems and even serious illnesses.
To start with, CBD has been proven to help with muscle and neurological pain. Also, considering that CBD has a calming effect on the body, it has been proven to help with anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia and other various neurological problems, as well as more serious neurological disorders, such as depression and epilepsy.
The role of CBD in the treatment of cancer is still being researched, but what is known for sure is that CBD helps alleviate the common side effects of cancer in the human body, such as nausea, vomiting and pain.
Despite the fact that there used to be a big stigma surrounding the use of CBD for medicinal purposes, in the last decade this chemical has been extensively researched and today the use of CBD is no longer a taboo.
What about the side effects?
As is the case with any medicine, CBD can have some side effects. Depending on a person’s health picture, side effects such as small changes in body weight or diarrhea might potentially occur. For this reason, it is recommended that you consult your doctor before deciding to use CBD.
